No. The hash is calculated in your browser, so even confidential files are safe to check.
Which algorithm should I use?
SHA-256 is the most common for file integrity checks. MD5 and SHA-1 are outdated for security but still used as checksums.
Can I hash passwords with this?
Password storage needs special slow algorithms (bcrypt, Argon2). Regular hashes are not suitable for that.
